Dr Nouriel Roubini
Business Leader, Author
Dr Nouriel Roubini is Professor of Economics at NYU’s Stern School of Business (USA), and the founder and Chairman of Roubini Global Economics, an innovative economic and geo-strategic information service with 30 economists on staff. He studies international macroeconomics, political economy and the mechanisms of economic growth. He is on the Foreign Policy’s Top 100 Global Thinkers 2010 list and was listed in Fortune magazine’s “10 new gurus you should know”.
Popularly known as Dr Doom (the title of a profile in The New York Times Magazine, 8.15.08), Dr Roubini is known for his now-vindicated predictions of the current financial crisis. He receives regular invitations to speak before such influential organisations as the US Congress and the Council on Foreign Relations. Dr Roubini is the co-author of Crisis Economics: A Crash Course in the Future of Finance, with Stephen Mihm. It reveals the methods Dr Roubini used to foretell the current crisis before other economists saw it coming and shows how those methods can help us make sense of the present and prepare for the future. He is also the author of Bailouts or Bail-ins? Responding to Financial Crises in Emerging Economies.
Dr Roubini served as a senior adviser to the White House Council of Economic Advisers and the US Treasury Department, has published numerous policy papers and books on key international macroeconomic issues, and is regularly cited as an authority in the media. He contributes to a monthly commentary for Project Syndicate called “After the Storm”. He also maintains a blog at Roubini Global Economics.
